Shaangu signed contract for the world’s largest 350MW salt cavern compressed air energy storage(CAES) project

Recently, Shaangu Power and China Energy Engineering Group (CEEC) signed an order contract for multiple sets of large-scale compressor units and their supporting & auxiliary system equipment for the 350MW Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) innovation demonstration project in Tai’an, Shandong. This is the world’s largest 350MW salt cavern CAES demonstration project, and Shaangu will jointly promote the high-quality development of the new energy and energy infrastructure industry by providing the world’s leading equipment and system solutions.

This project adopts water-heat storage medium-temperature adiabatic compression technology; it will become the world’s largest non-supplementary fired advanced CAES power plant after completion, and accelerate the commercialization, scale-up and industrialization of large-scale CAES technology. At the same time, the overall process of digital technology empowers the realization of digital twins for energy storage power plants, creating an intelligent power plant that is “smart, collaborative, integrated, safe and flexible”. As a demonstration project of the salt cavern energy storage industry chain, the project can further extend the entire industry chain of the salt cavern energy storage, energy storage equipment manufacturing and energy supporting services, empowering Tai’an to build a “energy storage city” with a capacity of tens of millions of kilowatts.
