On January 9th, the “CAES No.1” event, the world’s first 300MW compressed air energy storage demonstration project’s full-capacity power generation and the conference on the development of new energy storage industries, was held in Yingcheng, Hubei. This event was hosted by China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and co-organized by Shaangu Group. It marked the full-capacity grid-connected power generation of the 300MW compressed air energy storage demonstration project in Yingcheng, Hubei, and the complete operational launch of the 700,000 cubic meters gas storage facility.
The Yingcheng 300MW compressed air energy storage demonstration project in Hubei, which Shaangu has deeply participated in the research & development and construction of, has achieved 100% localization of key core equipment and deep underground space utilization products. This signifies that China’s compressed air energy storage technology has taken the lead in entering a new era of 300MW level engineering. The project has set “three world records” for single-unit power, energy storage scale, and conversion efficiency, as well as established six industry demonstrations and dozens of international pioneering achievements, filling multiple international gaps. It also stands as a “country’s business card” for China’s new long-duration physical energy storage system solutions going global.
Shaangu has consistently delved into the research of compressed air energy storage technology and now fully developed system solutions for compressed air energy storage units ranging from 10MW to 660MW, accommodating different processes and scales. The “axial + centrifugal” turbocompressor solution provided by Shaangu perfectly aligns with and responds to the market demands for compressed air energy storage, which are increasingly leaning toward larger scale, higher system efficiency, and greater economic viability.
